כל התחכמות או ניסיון לחפש ניסוחים או טענות לגבי פעילות זו או אחרת של הממשלה אינם נותנים מענה למצוקה האמיתית – ממשלת נתניהו פועלת בניגוד גמור לאינטרסים של מדינת ישראל בכל התחומים במובן של קיימות המדינה (sustainability) . בנושא החברתי ? רק זה מה שמטריד אותנו ? למה אנחנו עדיין ממתינים ? מה הממשלה עוד חייבת לעשות על מנת לשכנע אותנו שהיא פסולה להנהיג את המדינה ? שהיא תביא לאסון של ממש ? להרעיל את הבארות באמת ? לסגור את העיתונות ולא רק להשתלט עליה ? לגרש אזרחים ערבים באלפים ? לבנות את בית המקדש השלישי על הר הבית? מה יהיה המתניע שמשכנע את הציבור שלנו שעכשיו הממשלה הגזימה וצריך לצאת לרחוב ?

אני בתחושה שאם אנחנו ממתינים, המעשה הבא של נתניהו כבר עלול להעביר אותנו לשלב שכל התנגדות ציברית מאוחרת מידי. לדוגמה, התקפה יזומה על איראן או פעולה נוספת בעזה עליה כבר רמז הרמטכ"ל בני גנץ. שתי פעולות אלה (וכל אחת מהן לחוד) יכולות בקלות להביא עלינו משבר מתמשך שלא יגמר למשך שבועות, חודשים או אף שנים. המצב הכלכלי יהיה הבעייה הקטנה אז.

ממשלת ישראל צועדת לעימות או כבר נמצאת בעימות בכל תחום – בתחום הפלסטיני, גם מול עזה וגם מול הרש"פ – לא מעבירים לרש"פ את הכנסותיהם ממיסים. זה מפריע למישהו ? חודשים ארוכים הטענה שלנו הייתה, בין היתר, שאין טעם להסכם עם הרש"פ כי עזה לא כלולה. עכשיו, שהרש"פ סוגרת עניין עם חמאס בעזה, הטענה היא כי אי אפשר לסגור עם הרש"פ כי היא בשיתוף פעולה עם חמאס בעזה. בקיצור אי אפשר לסגור עמנו כי אנחנו, או ביתר דיוק, ממשלת ישראל ממש לא רוצה.

מול החברה האזרחית הממשלת בעימות באמצעות חקיקה כאשר מחד פוגעים בעיתונות החופשית ומאידך מנסים לצמצם את חופש הפעולה של בתי המשפט או את עצמאותם של השופטים. מול הרפואה הציבורית הממשלה נלחמת ברופאים – מי שמע פעם על חוזה עבודה שתחום ל-9 (תשע שנים) ?? ללא כל קשר למה כתוב בהסכם, הרי ברור לחלוטין שזה לא קביל ומישהו כאן טעה. לא בטוח שהייתה כאן טעות בתום לב אך טעות הייתה ויש לתקן אותה ולא לטעון ש"הסכמים לא פותחים". כל בר דעת, כולל בעלי השכלה משפטית מבינים שניתן לפתוח הסכם כאשר הוא איננו עומד במבחן המציאות.

בתחום הכלכלי הממשלה ממשיכה להלחם בציבור על ידי צמצום, אם לא ביטול חלק ניכר מהמלצות ועדת טראטנברג שגם כפי שהן, אם בכלל, עונות על חלק קטן של הצרכים בלבד. בדידות בינלאומית שמעתם ? היחסים עם טורקיה, עם ארה"ב, צרפת, גרמניה ומדינות נוספות, כולן או במצב קשה או במצב של חוסר אימון הדדי. אופוזיציה ? חודשים ארוכים ציפי לבני בקושי פתחה את הפה. יו"ר מפלגת העבודה שלי יחימוביץ' יודעת להלחם, יודעת לגייס ציבור, יודעת לעשות מהומה באמת. אם זה לא עכשיו אז מתי בדיוק ?

אולי יש כאן מקום לפרפרזה של האמירה של הכומר נימולר: כשצמצמו את חופש הפרט לא אמרתי כלום כי בחופש שלי לא פגעו. כשהסתירו את הנשים מהתמונות בציבור בירושלים הסתדרתי עם זה כי אני לא אישה וגם לא גר בירולשים. כשפגעו ברופאים ובעובדי הקבלן לא יצאתי לרחוב כי אני לא רופא ולא עובד קבלן. כשרוצים לשלוח את החיילים לעזה שוב לא הגבתי כי אין לי ילדים בקרבי ולחמאס בטח מגיע מכה או שתיים. כשרוצים לתקוף באיראן אין לי הרבה מה להגיד, הרי מי יודע, אולי האיראנים באמת רוצים להפיל עלינו פצצת אטום ? כשעצרו את תשלומים שמגיעים לרשות הפלסטינאית לא אמרתי כלום כי אבו מאזן באמת לא בסדר. כשהפסיקו לאפשר לרבני צוהר לחתן זוגות צעירים, לא עשיתי מזה עניין כי הילדים שלי כבר נשואים. כשרוצים לקטוע את הסיוע מחו"ל לארגונים תומכי זכויות אדם לא עשיתי כלום כי אני לא ארגון תומך זכויות אדם ואף פעם לא קבלתי כסף מחו"ל. ואת הסוף אתם יודעים לבד….

Bring Down the Government, the Sooner the Better

All efforts to be sophisticated or attempts to seek formulas or excuses regarding this or the other actions of this government do not provide solace to the true distress – the Netanyahu government is acting against the best interests of the State of Israel across the board regarding sustainability of the country. The social realm ? That is what worries you ? What are we still waiting for ? What does the government still have to do to convince us that it is unfit to run the country ? To bring about a real catastrophe ? To really poison the wells ? To close down the newspapers and not only to control them ? To kick out Arab citizens by the thousands ? To build the 3rd temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem ? What will be the trigger that will convince our public that this time the government really has gone over the top and we have to go out into the streets ?

I have the feeling that if we wait , the next deed by the Netanyahu government may already bring us into a situation where public resistance will be too late. For example, initiating an attack on Iran or another major incursion into Gaza which was already intimated by the Chief of Staff, Benny Gantz. Both of these actions (and each one separately) could easily bring about a long term crisis which could go on for weeks, months or even years. In that case, the economic situation may be the smaller of our problems.

The government of Israel  is going into confrontation or is already in confrontation in every area – vis-a-vis the Palestinians, both in Gaza and in the Palestinian Authority. For weeks we withheld their income from custom duties. Did that disturb anyone ? For months, the Government of Israel claimed, among other claims, that an agreement with the Palestinian Authority is useless since Gaza will not be part of the deal. Now that the Palestinian Authority is closing ranks with Hamas the claim is that an agreement is impossible because of the cooperation with Hamas in Gaza. In short, it's impossible to close a deal with us because we, or more exact, the Government of Israel, really doesn't want to close.

The government is in confrontation with the civil society through legislation that on one side harms the media and on the other side tries to limit the freedom of action of the courts or the indpendence of judges. It confronts public medicine by fighting the doctors – who has ever heard of an employment contract with a 9 year term ?? Without going into what is written in the contract it is patently obvious that this is unacceptable and somebody made a mistake. This may not have been an innocent mistake but it definitely was a mistake which has to be corrected and the claim that "contracts cannot be renegotiated" is mute. Any reasonable person, including one with a legal education understands that is is possible to renegotiate a contract that does not reflect reality.

In the economic realm, the government continues to fight the public by limiting implementation if not cancelling a large part of the recommendations of the Trajtenberg committee which as is, if at all, only dealt with a small part of the real needs.

Did you hear about our international isolation ? Relations with Turkey, with the U.S., with France, Germany and other nations are at worst in bad shape or at best we suffer from a serious lack of credibility. And the opposition ? For months now, Tzippi Livni, has barely opened her mouth. The chairperson of the Labor Party, Shelly Yechimovic knows how to fight , knows how to recruit the public, knows how to really kick up a fuss. If this is not the time, when is ?

This may be the time to paraphrase the words of the German Pastor Niemöller: When they limited personal freedoms I didn't say anything because my freedoms were not affected. When they started to remove women from public advertisements in Jerusalem I didn't resist since I am not a woman and I don't live in Jeruslaem. When they started to harm the doctors and the work contractors I didn't protest since I am neither. When they wanted to send soldiers into Gaza again, I didn't do anything since my kids are not in combat units and Hamas probably deserves another blow or two. When they wanted to attack in Iran I didn't have much to say, who knows, maybe the Iranians really want to drop a nuclear bomb on us. When they stopped the custom payments to the Palestinian Authority I didn't say a thing since Abu Mazen is really at fault. When they stopped letting the Rabbis from Zohar officiate at weddings I didn't make a big fuss since my kids are already married. When they wanted to cut foreign donations to NGOs supporting human rights I didnt do a thing since I am not an NGO and I never received a donation from foreigners. You all know how the end goes on this story…
